- Appearance — System, Light, or Dark. Applies to document windows and Settings.
Canvas (defaults for new documents)

- Show grid — whether the grid overlay starts on or off (toggle later with ⌘').
- Background — Checkerboard, White, Black, or Custom Color. Affects what you see behind transparent pixels in the editor.
Animation (defaults for new documents)
- FPS — playback rate for animation preview (1–24 fps).
- Preview background — same options as the canvas background, applied to the floating animation preview window.
Onion Skin (defaults for new documents)
- Enabled — start new documents with onion skin on or off.
- Previous frames / Next frames — how many neighboring frames to ghost in (0–3 in each direction).
- Opacity — base ghost opacity; frames further from the current one fade out automatically.
- Tint previous blue / next red — directional color tinting for onion-skinned frames.
Custom background colors are picked from a system color picker.
